Final Idea Framework

Well this is the basic framework of our design. The design itself works on the basis of having one major base structure with additional structures that will provide the bulk of the learning space. Really with this design we were trying hard to utilize the notion of modular construction, however environmentally and aesthetically superior to current modular schooling systems (a.k.a the MOD5)

Existing Portable Site Visit

Good old Geelong, never stops giving! We start a project on portable classrooms and Geelong was able to deliver them in abundance. Sure Geelong's method of delivery may be more on the quantity side than the quality side, nevertheless the examples we found point out many of the current inadequacies of the the current portable schooling buildings. This is just the general view of the portable structure example that we chose. Straight away we notice a substantial lack of any real aesthetic qualities. Sure some people say that looks aren't important, and its what's on the inside that counts, however in the architectural realm of the present this is well below par. A notable feature which i will explain a little later is the drag and drop approach of the building's services, however as I said we will dwell on that a little later

Here we can see the footings in all of their glory. Simple pad footings will most likely be the chosen method for our project, however I would hope that we are able to find a way in which we can hide the footings and still maintain their function.

And there it is, and by 'it' I am referring to one of these building's many service units. Ummmmmmmm....yeah, don't really need to say much, as they say a picture is worth a thousand words, actually in this case we better make that 400-500 words

This is one of the connection joints between two of the 5 building components. This type of connection really stresses the need to create a whole building that expands, which will hopefully eradicate the need for any of these connections
A lot of people have fantasies about twins, however i'm betting that these two ladies probably weren't invited to the party. However looking past appearances the thing that I am trying to touch on is the lack of any real link between these two buildings. The gap is barely wide enough to act as a corridor, and the overhanging extension wire and caged intercom system seem like lonely additions to these solvable problem

THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR DESIGN

- Aesthetic appearence, try using combination of materials rather than different combinations of the same
- Work on the footing systems, either hide or make a feature
- Try extremely hard to use passive heating a cooling systems, try to reduce active systems that will just be stuck onto the exterior
- Minimise component connections, try and keep the bulk of the design within the one unit if possible
- Work on an appropriate connection between units, such as a raised walkway of planter boxes in corridors that are deemed unnecessary

Library Book Scans

These are just a few images I pulled out of a book our group borrowed from the library, the images focus more around skeletal structures with an envelope of some sort:

Community Living

Some may call this a "red-neck mansion", but they're just ignorant! Within this upper-class trailer trash lifestyle lies the fundamental notion of community, and what is a school but a community. As we can see in this image Big Bob's scarlet trailer at the base is the central hub of all the activity that surrounds, obviously leading upwards towards Skinny Pete's smaller silver trailer. Now if we take a step off our pedestal and look past the plastic deckchairs we can start to make out what is really going on here.
So if we look at these containers like this; red (primary), yellow+green (secondary), blue+cyan(utilities), orange+grey(secondary utilities), the pattern of a working 'system' starts to emerge
